voiceWeb is a voice generation site made by the Webstuff Warriors team. This policy explains what information voiceWeb collects when you use it, what it's used for, who can see it, and what you can do about it. It goes together with our Terms of Service.
What we collect
- From your sign-in. You sign in with Google or Microsoft, and they tell us your name, your email address, and an ID for your account with them. That ID is how voiceWeb knows which projects are yours. We never see or store your password. If you have no voiceWeb profile picture when you sign in, we also copy the one you have with them, if any, to be yours until you change it.
- Your voiceWeb account. Your account ID, the username you pick, when you joined, when you last used the site, and the invite code you used to get in. Your profile picture, and a short bio if you add one.
- What you make. Your projects, scripts and lines; the voice recordings you upload or record; the audio generated from them; the settings you choose for each voice; and the comments you leave on projects.
- Technical information. Like most websites, our server and our network provider keep standard logs of requests — such as IP address, browser type, the page asked for and when — to keep the site working and secure.
How we use it
Only to run voiceWeb:
- to sign you in and keep your projects private to you and the people you share them with;
- to store your scripts and recordings and generate audio from them;
- to show your username to people you share projects with, and your username and profile picture next to your comments;
- to check invite codes and stop abuse, such as someone guessing codes;
- to find and fix problems with the site.
We don't sell your information, we don't show ads, and we don't use analytics or tracking services.
Your voice recordings and generated audio
To make a take, your voice recording and the text of the line are sent to the voice generation server that the voiceWeb team runs. That server also listens back to each take with a speech recognition model to check it says the right words. Your recordings and text aren't sent to any outside AI company, and they aren't used to train AI models.
A voice is personal. Only upload or record voices that are yours or that you have permission to use — see our Terms of Service.
Who can see your information
- People you share a project with can see that project and everything in it, and see your username next to it. If you let them edit it, they can change it too.
- Owners of projects shared with you see your username and account ID in their list of who it's shared with. Nobody can find you by name — to share with you, someone needs the account ID you give them.
- Everyone who can see a project sees the comments left on it, each with the username and profile picture of whoever left it. Your profile picture is kept at a web address with a long random name, so anyone that address is passed on to could open it. Your bio is only shown to you, on your Account page.
- The site's admins can see a list of accounts: the name from each sign-in, its username and account ID, how it got in, and when it was last used. The team that runs voiceWeb can reach the servers your data is stored on, and only does so to run, fix or protect the site.
- Services we rely on: Google and Microsoft, for signing in, and Cloudflare, which delivers the site to your browser and protects it from attacks. Each handles information under its own privacy policy.
- When the law requires it. We may share information if we're legally required to, or to protect people from harm.
Cookies and storage in your browser
- A sign-in cookie keeps you signed in on that browser for 30 days, or until you sign out.
- A few short-lived cookies protect the site's forms and carry messages from one page to the next.
- Your choice of theme is saved in your browser's local storage.
These are all needed for the site to work. voiceWeb doesn't use advertising or tracking cookies. Cloudflare may set its own cookies to tell people from bots.
Where it's kept, and for how long
Your account, projects and audio are stored on servers run by the voiceWeb team, and kept until you delete them. Deleting a project deletes its scripts, lines, audio and comments with it. Copies can stay in backups for a while afterwards. Logs are kept only as long as they're needed to look into problems.
Keeping it safe
The site only works over an encrypted connection (HTTPS), you sign in through Google or Microsoft rather than with a password of ours, and every project is checked against your account before anything in it is shown or changed. No system is perfectly secure, though, so we can't promise your information will never be accessed without permission.
Your choices
- See your account ID and the details we keep about you, and change your username, profile picture and bio, on the Account page.
- Download a whole project, with its recordings and generated audio, from its page — or everything you own at once from the Account page.
- Delete any project, along with everything in it.
- Delete your whole account, and every project you own, from the Account page.
- Ask us for a copy of your information, or to correct it.
Depending on where you live, you may have other rights over your information too. Contact us to use them.
Children
voiceWeb isn't meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them. If you think a child has given us information, contact us and we'll delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page. If a change is significant, we'll say so on the site.
